LARC to Honor Inclusive Employers at “Exceptional Employers of Southwest Florida” Event

The Lee Association for Remarkable Citizens (LARC) is pleased to present the Exceptional Employers of Southwest Florida event on Thursday, July 17, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at The Collaboratory (2031 Jackson St., Fort Myers, FL 33901). This free event is open to the public, though advance registration is requested.

The event will recognize businesses that demonstrate a commitment to hiring individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). LARC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with IDD, provides essential training and support services to promote independence and workforce inclusion.

Attendees will enjoy breakfast, networking opportunities, and a panel discussion featuring local business leaders who will share best practices for creating inclusive workplaces.

Panelists include:

• Suzanne Plazewski, Assistant Director of Culinary Services, Cypress Cove
• Kristin Sampson, Operations Manager, Gulf Coast Humane Society
• Tresa Ciganek, Community Outreach Coordinator, The Home Depot
• Lindsey Ventriglia, General Manager, Jason’s Deli

Peter Busch, award-winning journalist and Gulf Coast News Anchor, will emcee the event.

“We are proud to celebrate employers who recognize the value of a diverse workforce and the talents individuals with disabilities bring to their teams,” said Angela Katz, Executive Director of LARC. “These employees are capable, reliable, and dedicated—positively impacting their workplaces and communities. Whether your business currently employs individuals with disabilities or is exploring inclusive hiring, we encourage you to attend and learn how to foster a more diverse workforce.”

Studies show that hiring individuals with disabilities leads to higher employee retention rates, reduced turnover costs, increased productivity, and stronger customer engagement.

Exceptional employers who currently employ individuals with disabilities are encouraged to register in advance to receive recognition at the event. Those interested can register as an Exceptional Employer or as an attendee by visiting www.larcleecounty.org/events before Thursday, July 10.

For businesses looking to support this initiative, event sponsorships are available. For more information on sponsorship opportunities, please contact Nickole Hendra at 239-334-6285 x229 or email nickolehendra@larcleecounty.org.
