VR CAREER CAMP

June 17th-21st, 2019
July 15th-19th, 2019
9:00am-4:00pm
Youth Program – Ages 14-21

Curriculum Includes:
• Work-Readiness Training
Learn how to prepare for an interview, Pre-Interview worksheet, mock interviews, videos, Q&A Interview questions reference Guide and discussions, Communication Skills Verbal and Non Verbal Communications, How to complete an application Pre-Resume Worksheet, Cover Letters and Employer Contact Log. Create a “Career Folder”. (Create a Resume, Cover letter and Employer Contact Log).
Guest Speakers: Health & Wellness, Social Awareness, Rights and Responsibilities of sharing Personal Information, the importance of making good decisions, importance of good hygiene and appropriate interactions with others at the workplace.
Guest Speaker- Lee-Tran, Transportation Options-Safety while Rising the Fixed Route. Student ID Cards.
• Postsecondary Educational Counseling
Post-Secondary Counseling on navigation of the Disabilities Services Office, Training options available, application and admission process/requirements, Financial Aide options, Field Trip Visit to Post Secondary School
• Work Based Learning Experience
Field Trip to Work Experience, Work Place Observation – Transportation Experience riding the Fixed Route to the Mall to observe a variety of employment opportunities in the community.
• Job Exploration Counseling
What is Competitive Employment, Integrated Employment and Customized Employment? Wages and Labor Laws, Field Trip to Work Experience, Finding the Right Industry, Occupations, and Professions. Qualification and education Requirements, Vocational Assessment, Job Searches, Employment Sites, Internet Safety, Passwords, usernames. Development of Employer Logs.

SELF-ADVOCACY TRAINING

20 hours

• Unit 10 Putting it All Together
