LARC Welcomes Miriam Pereira as Director of Advancement

Lee Association for Remarkable Citizens (LARC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Miriam Pereira as its new Director of Advancement. A seasoned fundraising and communications professional, Pereira brings nearly 15 years of nonprofit development experience, and a 20-year background in journalism and storytelling.

In her new role, Pereira will lead LARC’s fundraising, donor engagement, and advancement strategies, helping to expand resources that support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Southwest Florida.

Pereira most recently served as Senior Advancement Officer at David Lawrence Centers for Behavioral Health in Naples, where she played a key role in the organization’s annual fund and capital campaign efforts. Her previous leadership experience includes serving as Chief Philanthropy Officer at STARability Foundation in Naples and as Development Director at Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida.

“Miriam brings a unique combination of strategic fundraising expertise and powerful storytelling that will help elevate LARC’s mission and impact,” said Angela Katz, Executive Director of LARC. “Her passion for human services and deep connections within the philanthropic community make her an exceptional addition to our leadership team.”

Pereira holds a Master of Business Administration from Florida Gulf Coast University, where she was honored as a 2025 Soaring Eagle Award recipient. She is also a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and remains actively involved in the philanthropic community through volunteer leadership. She earned her bachelor’s and associate degrees from Florida International University and Miami-Dade Community College, respectively.

“I am honored to join LARC and support its incredible mission of empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to achieve independence and live fulfilling lives,” said Pereira. “I look forward to working alongside the team, donors, and community partners to build upon LARC’s strong foundation and expand opportunities for those we serve.”
