LARC Launches Summer Youth Career Camp for Teens with Disabilities

LARC, Inc. (Lee Association for Remarkable Citizens) is helping local teens build confidence, explore careers, and prepare for future employment opportunities through its upcoming Youth Career Camp this summer in Fort Myers.

Designed for students ages 14 to 21 with an IEP or 504 Plan, the immersive 50-hour camp provides hands-on career exploration and workforce readiness training in a supportive environment tailored to individuals with disabilities. Camp participants will engage in resume building, job readiness training, social skills development, informational interviews, field trips, and job shadowing opportunities while learning valuable workplace and life skills.

Two camp sessions will be offered at LARC’s campus, located at 2570 Hanson Street in Fort Myers:

Session 1: July 20–24, 2026
Session 2: July 27–29, 2026

Camp hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.

The curriculum includes counseling on enrollment opportunities, work readiness training, work-based learning experiences, and job exploration activities designed to help students identify career pathways and gain real-world exposure to the workforce.

“Our goal is to empower young people with disabilities by helping them discover their strengths, explore career options, and build the confidence needed to succeed in the workplace and in life,” said Angela Katz, Executive Director of LARC. “This camp gives students meaningful experiences that can help shape their future while also building independence and social connections.”

LARC has served Southwest Florida for more than 70 years, providing programs and services that help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities lead productive, fulfilling lives. Through programs like Youth Career Camp, LARC continues to create pathways to independence, inclusion, and employment for individuals of all abilities.
