Ericson Success Story

ERICSON’S STORY

Ericson

Erickson has lived in a LARC, Inc. group home for almost 20 years.  Most recently, he has been residing at our Cape Coral Group Home.  Erick has made great strides in a more independent lifestyle because of our Residential Rehabilitation training.

Daily Erick works in training courses that are important to him as well ones that help him to be more independent, such as using an “Emergency Contact” card. This training has enabled Erick to fly independently to Las Vegas at Christmas to see his Mom.  He also enjoys an annual trip to Seattle visiting his aunt and cousins.  Again, this is done independently including layovers at Atlanta Airport.

Additional residential training at the group home has enabled Erick to independently prepare small simple meals and perform routine household tasks.

Currently, Erick is actively participating in Supported Employment working with our Mobile Work Crew cleaning Bonita Springs Parks and Recreation facilities while making a competitive wage.  He is also competitively employed in the LARC, Inc. woodshop.
